The rear of this card reads "Sunsets are a constant source of pleasure to visitors to the West Highlands. The numerous islands and the broken coastline make for an infinite variety of effects, as in this fine study of the track of the setting sun across Loch Eishort."

The back of this card reads "Blaven with the Cuillins beyond as seen across Loch Eishort from Ord on the western coast of the Sleat peninsula."

The photograph is by Douglas Scott (1911-2008). Scott was a renowned mountaineer as well as photographer. He was a member of the 1950 Scottish Himalayan expedition, three years before the conquest of Everest. He is also one of a handful of people to receive a John Muir Trust Lifetime Achievement Award.
